If you’re moving to Hong Kong, we suggest that you consider settling on beautiful Lantau Island. With green surroundings, easy transport links to Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and Hong Kong International Airport (which is located on Lantau), South Lantau in particular offers both convenience and a good quality of life. Lantau boasts many beautiful beaches and hiking trails, and is home to iconic attractions such as the Big Buddha, the Ngong Ping Cable car and Tai O fishing village.

Finding the right school for your child in a new location can be daunting – especially if you are on a tight timeline. The decision involves many factors: location, affordability, and most importantly, the quality of education. A child’s primary school experience can have a lasting impact on their skills, wellbeing, secondary school placement and even future university opportunities.

At L.I.S., we focus on children’s education and wellbeing. We are very proud of our strong academic track record and our students’ high rate of enrolment in their secondary school of choice.

We follow the British Curriculum and do testing twice a year at primary level to ensure the highest quality of education, using assessments by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) – the leading independent provider of education research in the United Kingdom.

Many schools in Hong Kong are located in buildings and do not have their own outdoor space for children to play. At L.I.S., this is not the case. Our three campuses in South Lantau have standalone buildings and their own private outdoor space for children to play right outside the classrooms. Our Tung Fuk campus also has a monkey bar and a big jungle gym to help children build their strength, balance and coordination.

We have affordable fees with no debentures and we offer all learning materials free of charge to our students, such as notebooks, textbooks, books, pens and pencils. We also have over 5,000 books in our library.

All our teachers are native English speakers, have a degree in education and are registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau.

We ensure that every child receives focused attention with small class sizes with a maximum teacher-to-student ratio of 1:11 in Reception Class and 1:24 at primary level. Our Reception Class has two teachers at all times, one for Mandarin and one for English, and we have an assistant teacher in Primary 1.

We offer a bilingual English-Mandarin Reception Class, and Mandarin classes from primary 1 to Primary 6 multiple times a week.

All our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Until Primary 3, we focus on giving our students a strong academic foundation and on helping them develop their fine motor skills. From Primary 4 to Primary 6, we add weekly computer and coding lessons using robots for hands-on learning.

All our campuses are easily accessible via school buses and public transport.
